The CFB Halifax Djo was closed during the winter due to the majority of its students being deployed to Haiti to participate in the relief efforts after the earthquake that hit the Caribbean nation  on January 12, 2010. The photos show Sensei John Pendergast and Glen Slauenwhite constructing temporary shelters in Leogane, Haiti, a town 30 kilometres west of  the capital city of Port-au-Prince. CFB Halifax reopened on April 8, 2010.
