Andre LeBlanc started
training in World Oyama Karate 15 years ago in June 1992 under Sensei
Pierre Collette at his dojo located in downtown Moncton, New Brunswick.
He earned his 1st dan in November 1995 and a 2nd in April 2001. In June
2001, he assumed control of the Irishtown Dojo when Sensei Pierre
retired. Upon the closure of the World Oyama Karate (WOK)
headquarters in New
York and the retirement of Soshu Oyama, he switched to World
Kanreikai Karate (WKK) in 2004. In
August 2007, he earned a third dan at a grading at the
headquarters in Danbury, CT. In 2009 he was appointed branch chief of
New Brunswick. Outside of martial
arts, Sensei Andre is a manager in a local catering company.
Barry Gallant
Sensei Barry and his son started karate training under Sensei Paul
Gallant at the Lakeside Dojo in September 1995 . Barry participated in
many tournaments and belt gradings in the WOK Organization. In April
2000, he earned a 1st dan and subsequentally became the sensei of the
Lakeside Dojo. In April 2004, he earned a 2nd dan. In December 2004, he
entered the WKK organization with Senseis Andre LeBlanc and John
Pendergast. Upon the closing of the Lakeside Dojo, in September 2005 he
went into business with Sensei Paul Gallant in Riverview, New
Brunswick. After the closing of this dojo in November 2007, Barry
became a sensei-at-large in the Greater Moncton Area and is currently
an instructor at Simms Knockdown Martial Arts. Outside of karate
training he works as a sales representative in the
construction industry.
John Pendergast
His journey in the
martial arts began in June 1985 when he started training in
Kyokushinkai Karate under Sensei Ron Cormier. In September 1992 he
switched to the WOK Organization where he trained
in Moncton, New Brunswick under Senseis Pierre Collette and Robert
Shaw.
In WOK he participated in a variety of tournaments, clinics and belt
gradings. He earned his 1st dan in November 1993 and 2nd in April 2004.
In December 2004, he followed Sensei Barry Gallant and Andre LeBlanc
into the WKK Organization. He is currently the
chief instructor and president of the CFB Halifax WKK Club, webmaster
for the
Atlantic Regional WKK website, and branch chief for Nova Scotia.
Outside of Karate, Sensei John is a
serving member of
the Canadian Forces/Navy, a brown belt in Judo and an avid scuba diver.
Pat Vautour
Pat Vautour started in Kyokushinkai
karate at the Ron Cormier School of Self-Defense in 1983. Thoughout the
decade he participated in many local full-contact karate tournaments,
the Canadian Kyokushin Championships, various clinics and camps, and
some kickboxing matchs.
In 1992 he followed Senseis Pierre Collette and Robert Shaw into
the WOK Organization. He was promoted to 1st dan after completing a
black belt grading test in Quebec City on May
21, 1995. In 2007, he entered the WKK Organization where he is a
sempai in the Irishtown Dojo. Outside of his martial arts training,
Sempai Pat is an outdoorsman, plays ball hockey, and does kayaking. He
is an employee of the engineering department for the city of Moncton.
