Shihan Manny

As Chief Instructor and Founder of World Kanreikai Karate, Shihan Manny Matias is 7th Dan and has been training students in the United States and Canada since 1971.

As a knockdown fighter in the 70's and 80's Shihan Manny Matias maintained a solid status as a light weight champion in North America. Since that time he has trained many champions for international contact tournaments and is highly regarded in martial arts circles worldwide as both a fighter and technician in Japanese Karate. He is the recipient of many awards and has been featured in international films.Shihan Manny Matias started in Tae Kwon Do and Aikido in the early 70's and taught Tai Kwon Do in two schools.

In the mid 70's after an extensive search, Shihan Manny Matias selected Shigeru Oyama as his master. He gave up his schools, black belt, and title as a Sensei to train under the great Shigeru Oyama who was then Saiko Shihan in the Kyokushin organization. After extensive training, he reopened his Dojo, and followed Soshu Shigeru Oyama as he organized the World Oyama Karate Organization in the mid 80's.Over the next 20 years he became 4th ranked in the organization worldwide. Shihan loyally followed his Master, Soshu Shigeru Oyama until he closed his dojo, and stepped down as Director of the Organization in 2004
